At each stop of THE NBM SHOW, one winner is chosen at random to receive the $500 Buyer Bucks prize each day of the show. So, what is Buyer Bucks? It’s the chance for one lucky attendee to purchase the equipment or supplies they’ve had their eye on at the show.
THE NBM SHOW closed in Cleveland last month, June 15–16, and Romonda Mays, the owner of Artful Intentions Graphics & Designs, took home the $500 prize on the first day. Artful Intentions Graphics & Designs offers embroidery, sequin, and heat-printed custom apparel.
Mays traveled with her husband, Booker, and daughter Romia, from Little Rock, Arkansas to enjoy THE NBM SHOW, as well as the NNEP Embroidery & Digitizing Conference. The family enjoyed a two-day travel commute by Amtrak into Cleveland. They arrived a day early to enjoy the sightseeing in the city, as well as check into THE NBM SHOW before the exhibit hall opened. When asked what she liked about her visit, she notes great dining options, entertainment in the area, and the flexibility of THE NBM SHOW schedule, allowing her to have time to enjoy lunch before getting back to educational sessions in the hall and the classroom. Mays says, “I was very impressed with the free classes and the length of their presentation as well as the quality of the information.”
Aside from the perks of traveling to a new city, Mays took quite a few things from her experience at THE NBM SHOW. She says, “I was able to take information from the training and immediately began using it to improve my business as soon as I returned home.” She gives special mention to the Johnson Plastics Plus, STAHLS’ Transfer Express, and Rhinestone World sessions. “I also liked the variety of vendors that were at the show and the available resources. I was able to purchase materials at the vendors for a third of the price it would cost me to order it plus pay shipping,” she adds.
In terms of her Buyer Bucks win, she feels “blessed to win the drawing of $500.” With it, she purchased a Silhouette Cameo 3; several rolls of easy weed, flock, glitter film, foils, hot fix tape, and halo graphic film; as well as rhinestones and templates. With the new equipment and materials, Mays hopes to increase business “by having a variety of materials that my customer can choose from to create the designs they want.”
After enjoying Cleveland, taking home some new equipment and supplies, along with applicable education, Mays is ready to return to another NBM SHOW.
