Improve Color-Matching

Rick Roth is president of Pawtucket, R.I.-based Mirror Image. In recent years, his business has taken home numerous Golden Image awards in various categories, as well as top honors in the industry media's various printing competitions.

To improve color-matching when mixing screen printing inks, make sure to use a good scale, have current (and not faded) pantone books, use a reliable ink company that has a solid system and consistent ingredients whether using colorants or finished inks, and follow instructions.

Ink mixing should be way more science and way less “artistic” than it is done in some shops. Follow your recipes, make accurate measurements and ink colors should come out accurately.
