Anvil takes CPSIA measures

NEW YORK CITYAnvil Knitwear Inc. is committed to compliance with all Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) requirements and therefore will be inserting a tracking label in all Anvil youth styles manufactured on or after Aug. 14, 2009. The tracking label will initially be located on the wearer’s left back, bottom hem.

The CPSIA requires that manufacturers of products primarily intended for children 12 years of age or younger place permanent marks on those products, starting with goods manufactured on or after Aug.14, 2009. Section 103 of the CPSIA further provides that the tracking label must contain information that will enable the ultimate purchaser to ascertain the manufacturer or private labeler, location and date of the product’s production and related information, such as batch number or other identifying characteristic on the product and packaging. Additional information about the tracking label requirement is available on the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website at www.cpsc.gov/about/cpsia/cpsia.html.

Anvil is also developing a companion website for consumers to track T-shirts online. The company offers its private-label customers the option of adopting its tracking label convention or will work with those companies to develop a customized solution based upon Anvil’s tracking methodology and its customer’s compliance needs.
