AURORA, Ill.—BERNINA announces plans to donate roughly $20,000 to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. The company says it is donating two percent of recently-generated revenue from the International Quilt Festival in Houston.
"BERNINA of America has participated in the International Quilt Festival Houston since its inception 43 years ago, and has 23 BERNINA dealers in the Houston area,” states Paul Ashworth, BERNINA of America president. “This history, coupled with the connection we have with our customers, compelled us to find a way to support the victims of Hurricane Harvey and help rebuild the community. We hope this donation, along with the donations of many others, will help make a difference."
While Hurricane Harvey’s impacts spread across into Louisiana, the greater Houston area experienced a significant portion of damage and devastation from the storm. The total rainfall from the storm exceeds 19 trillion gallons, and initial reports estimate 30,000 people displaced in Texas alone.
Since the storm waters receded, companies across the industry have pledged support to victims through various benefits that range from cash donations to supply deliveries of apparel and school supplies.
