Charles River Apparel Supports Wellness Warriors Rowing Team for 11th Year

SHARON, Ma.—Charles River Apparel announces the arrival of the new Wellness Warriors dragon boat.

Throughout the summer, the Wellness Warriors rowing team practices along the Charles River in preparation for the annual Dragon Race in Boston. For this year’s June event, Charles River Apparel sponsors the Wellness Warriors with a new racing boat.

“The boat says, ‘Powered by Charles River Apparel’ but it’s the strong and resilient rowers who are truly powering the boat,” says owner and president Barry Lipsett. “The Wellness Warriors provide a paddling support group for men and women of all ages diagnosed with many different types of cancer and we’re proud to help them paddle with purpose,” Barry continues.

Charles River Apparel was first introduced to the Wellness Warriors team through an organization they previously supported called WeCanRow. Several of its members were on the Wellness Warriors team, and 11 summers later Charles River Apparel is still supporting the team with donations, apparel, volunteers, and now a second boat.

Charles River’s VP of marketing Tracy Lehnen says the apparel company started its philanthropic initiative with ‘Be Pink Proud’ in honor of family members who lost their battle to cancer. “Supporting cancer survivors is near and dear to our hearts,” Lehnen adds. “We also love how the power of rowing aligns with our core values of teamwork and supporting each other.”
