MONTREAL—Gildan Activewear announces the resignation of director Patrik Frisk. Frisk was named to the company’s board of directors in early May 2017.
With his resignation, Frisk takes the helm as president and chief operating officer (COO) of Under Armour. As COO, he reports to chairman and CEO Kevin Plank. Frisk’s responsibilities as COO of Under Armour include developing market strategy and executing a long-term growth plan for the corporation.
"Patrik's global experience in brand building, including a proven and disciplined record of driving growth, while enhancing profitability and efficiency, will be instrumental as we work to transform our business model to deliver long-term value for our consumers, customers, and shareholders," says Plank. "The opportunity to leverage our strengths; innovative product, brand strength, premium sports marketing assets, and unparalleled consumer connections within an increasingly more digital ecosystem has never been greater."
Frisk comes to the position with more than 30 years of experience in the apparel industry, including 10 years as coalition president of Outdoor Americas with the VF Corporation, covering brands such as the North Face, Timberland, and SmartWool.
In addition to Frisk, Under Armour announces multiple changes in other leadership roles at the organization, including the following individuals:
Paul Fipps, chief technology officer
Colin Browne, chief supply chain officer
Kevin Eskride, chief product officer
"Today's leadership appointments and the streamlining of our organizational structure are transformative steps focused on a sharper, consumer-led approach and go-to-market strategy through our category management lens," adds Plank.
Frisk’s appointment is effective July 10, 2017.
