WINSTON SALEM, N.C.—Hanes donates activewear and underwear to victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and the Gulf Coast. The company says more than five tractor trailer loads are set to deliver the goods to the region.
To deliver the goods, Hanes has partnered with Delivering Good and Glen Raven Logistics. Delivering Good is a non-profit charity that serves the clothing, home, and children’s industries. Through the partnership, Delivering Good coordinates with Texas agencies including Children’s Hunger Fund, Operation Compassion, and Caring for Others to distribute donations. Meanwhile, Glen Raven Logistics lends support through transportation of the apparel for all organizations.
“Hanes and its employees share the nation’s great concerns for the victims of Hurricane Harvey and want to help,” said Chris Fox, Hanes vice president of corporate social responsibility. “We know that victims of natural disasters have a tremendous need for the basics in life, including shelter, food, water, and clothing. We are happy that we can assist in the long road to recovery.”
The donation bundle features more than one million units of underwear, socks, intimate apparel, T-shirts, and activewear valued at more than $2 million. In addition to clothing donations, Hanes says it plans to donate $25,000 to the American Red Cross.
The company encourages those interested in donating to visit Delivering Good’s website.
