FOWLERVILLE, Mich.—College and high school sportswear distributor J. America signs a definitive merger agreement with Top of the World, a supplier of collegiate headwear in the U.S. The merger creates a single company.
With the merger, J. America co-founder Jeff Fenech leads the company’s wholesale blanks division. The division supplies blanks under the J. America label to domestic wholesale distributors and apparel decorators.
“We couldn’t be more excited about the merger,” says Fenech. “It will allow us to offer even more innovative products and designs to the market.”
Top of the World president Scott Shuler now leads the company’s licensed apparel and headwear operations as president of the licensed division.
“This merger allows a single company to better leverage our brand, secure additional product offerings, and deepen our supplier relationships," states Shuler.
The new company features four distribution facilities in Michigan and Oklahoma, a design center in Columbus, Ohio, a sales office in North Carolina, and a sourcing office in Hong Kong. The merger is expected to close by the end of the month.
