Kornit CTO Retires, New CTO Named

ROSH-HA'AYIN, Israel—Kornit Digital announces the retirement of Ofer Ben-Zur, chief technology officer (CTO). Ben-Zur founded the digital printing solutions company in 2002. The now-former CTO served multiple roles for Kornit during his time with the company, including CEO and manager of research and design. Ben-Zur will continue to serve on the Kornit board of directors.

“I would like to thank Ofer for 13 amazing years with Kornit,” says Gabi Seligsohn, CEO at Kornit.  “As founder of the company, Ofer led Kornit from an idea to a leadership position in a fast growing market which he helped define.”

With Ben-Zur’s retirement, Kornit names Dr. Nuriel Amir, Ph.D. as the company’s new CTO, effective July 1, 2016. Amir joins the company with more than 20 years of leadership experience, including the recent role as technology director for KLA Tencor, a supplier of LED, semiconductor, and nanoelectronics products. Prior to KLA Tencor, Amir served as research and design director at NOR Technology, and filled various leadership and research roles at the Intel corporation for 11 years. In the education field, Amir has taught at multiple universities in Israel and has published 40 publications.

“Our tireless work over the past several years has helped to build a world class research and development team capable of expanding Kornit’s product and technology offerings in order to take advantage of the continued growth of our sector,” comments Ben-Zur. “There is no doubt that Dr. Amir brings a great strategic fit to help lead these efforts.”

The new appointment comes as part of a busy year for Kornit. In early 2016, the company announced it was shipping multiple Avalanche 1000 systems to Amazon for a merchandising program, and in May 2016, Kornit widened international channels with the addition of a new distributor in the United Kingdom.
