BROOMFIELD, Colo.—For the first time in the 30-year history of National Business Media, THE NBM SHOW took place on the company’s home turf of Denver, just down the road from NBM headquarters in Broomfield, Colorado.

THE NBM 2-DAY SHOW was meant to be a regional attraction and did not disappoint, although vendors and attendees from both coasts also showed up. Booth traffic in the hall was heavy, and in-classroom training sessions were often standing room only.

“THE NBM 2-DAY SHOW in Denver closed on Saturday (Oct. 3) afternoon with as big a bang as when it opened on Friday morning,” says Sue Hueg, vice president of NBM Events, producer of THE NBM SHOWs. “Over 2,400 professionals registered; Thirty percent of them scheduled time to learn from industry experts in the classroom and in the hall through the Training by Exhibitors program, and hundreds more enjoyed the After Hours Networking Reception, sponsored by Next Level Apparel and Denco Sales, on Friday evening.

“This quote from Joni Whiteside of B & E Screen Printing was echoed often during the event: ‘I want to thank you for bringing THE NBM SHOW to Denver. It was great fun and wonderful to see all the new stuff without having to travel a great distance to go to a show. We were able to talk to many suppliers and learned a lot. We will be purchasing a few things this week also. Please do it again in the future!’”

Adds Hueg, “With responses like that, it’s a safe bet that we’ll bring this event back to Colorado in the near future.”

Jacque Jones, owner of Classic Designs in Salina, Kansas, drove west for the show and said she, too, was glad to see it come to Denver.

“Part of the reason we came was for the education,” Jones says. “We also bought a laser, and some software, and a vinyl cutter. So we spent some money at the show, darn it! But now it’s time to get busy.”

She said she participated in several classroom training sessions and her favorite was one put on by representatives from Digital Art Solutions, which came from Tempe, Arizona, to exhibit and offer training.

“Every chair was full and there were people standing all around the room,” she says.

"We are thrilled to have proof of concept for THE NBM 2-DAY SHOW,” says Dave Pomeroy, vice president of publishing and markets for NBM. “Exhibiting companies were pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm and high attendance numbers from Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region. Standing-room-only classes were evidence of a market eager to learn; packed aisles at the show revealed a market ready to buy.”

THE NBM 2-DAY SHOW in Denver was NBM’s finale for 2015, but THE NBM SHOW returns in 2016 with another exciting slate of shows, starting with Arlington, Texas, March 10-12. Later stops include THE NBM B.I.G. SHOW in Indianapolis; then a Western version—new for 2016—THE NBM B.I.G. SHOW in Long Beach, California; followed by later stops in Baltimore and Charlotte, North Carolina.
