KENT, Ohio—The National Network of Embroidery Professionals (NNEP) wraps up the Embroidery & Digitizing Conference in Cleveland. The organization held classes on June 14 and 16, co-located with THE NBM SHOW at the Huntington Convention Center.
Jennifer Cox, president of NNEP, hosted a series of classes featuring instructors from companies like Balboa Threadworks and Embroidery Educational Services International. Classes covered a range of topics focused on specific embroidery techniques, as well as broader business management topics.
“Hosting the NNEP's Embroidery & Digitizing Conference in conjunction with THE NBM SHOW was a new experience for NNEP," says Cox. "Many of the attendees were pleased with the opportunity to see vendors that were new to them at the trade show and evaluations of the conference classes are coming in with high marks."
During her June 16 class, “Secrets for Business Success - Tips & Tricks to Save Time, Money, and Mistakes,” Cox discussed the importance of bridging decorating techniques with business management and production skills. “A lot of us in the industry tend to be producers,” explained Cox during the presentation. “As producers, we need to become more comfortable with sales.”
Cox also provided attendees with insight on important subjects like limits of liability for decorating on client-supplied garments and how to build a thriving network of clients and constituents both on the local and regional level.
Like the Ohio stop, The NNEP Embroidery and Digitizing Conference co-locates again later this year with THE NBM SHOW in Indianapolis. THE NBM SHOW Indianapolis takes place Sept. 13–15 while the NNEP Indianapolis conference takes place Sept. 13 from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and from 8 a.m.–4 p.m. on Sept. 15.
