MALVERN, Pa.—The American Red Cross recognizes Ricoh for its donations to the organization. The foundation designates Ricoh as a Ready 365 Giving Circle Gold level member for its contributions.
The company operates a micro-site where employees can make donations towards the Red Cross throughout the year. Ricoh says in 2017 its staff donated more than $23,000 to those affected by natural disasters. Ricoh Americas Foundation, a charitable organization founded by the company, also contributed funds to the foundation last year. The foundation’s contributions facilitated more than 9.7 million meals and more than 1.3 million overnight shelter stays through the Red Cross.
"In today's world, it's increasingly important for companies to act as global citizens and to encourage their employees to do the same," says Donna Venable, executive vice president of human resources at Ricoh Americas. "The idea of contributing positively to the well-being of society is ingrained in Ricoh's DNA, and we refer to it as 'the Ricoh Way.’”
The Ready 365 program partners the Red Cross’ efforts with yearly donations from companies across the country. Businesses select different levels of giving they pledge to contribute each year towards the organization’s efforts.
The news comes as the American Red Cross rounds out its annual Red Cross Month. The organization uses the month of March to encourage people to contribute to its efforts through volunteerism, donations, blood drives, and education.
