NEWARK, N.J.— New Jersey-based Rutgers Business School announces a new graduate program for professionals pursuing careers in the fashion industry. The Master of Science in Business and Fashion program is aimed at bridging the gap between the creative side of fashion design and the technical side of business skills.
"In the fashion industry, there seems to be a big disconnect between the business sector and the creative field," says Tavy Ronen, program director and Rutgers finance professor. "We decided it would be great to provide a program for creatives who want to learn how to run a business and for business professionals who want to work in the fashion industry."
While previous fashion-business programs have focused on retail sectors, this Master of Science is centered on core business assets like supply chain management, finance, and marketing.
The Master of Science in Business and Fashion launches in the fall of 2016 with approximately 25–30 students, with the option of a one-year full-time program or two years part-time.
