Can I apply a heat transfer to leather?

Answer

Typically, the problem is not getting a heat transfer material to adhere to the leather. Rather, the challenge is to minimize the effects of heat and pressure which discolor the leather and change the surface texture.

On lighter colored leather, I achieved favorable results by using a low-temperature heat transfer film. While these low-temperature heat transfer films can work great on many leather products, some leathers simply won’t work with any transfer. Hence, it’s important to test and evaluate a film for a particular application.
