I charge my embroidery customers for digitizing, but many complain, telling me they already have a "digital" file. What should I tell them?
Instead of using the term “digitizing,” call it a stitch map. That's what it is. The term "digitizing" is as out of date as "dialing" a phone, and confuses customers. Customers are more likely to understand what they’re paying for when you tell them you need to create a digital stitch map, and it even helps them understand why enlarging a design significantly requires an additional charge.
