What is the correct blade depth for my plotter?

A popular measure is to set the depth of the blade so it barely extends past the end of the blade holder at approximately half the depth of a credit card. While this may work for many applications, don’t expect it to work in all cases.

One setting doesn’t fit all media because media thickness varies greatly. A more precise setting is to adjust the blade to a depth that is at least as great as the thickness of the media you are cutting. Run a test cut to determine if the blade is adjusted to the proper depth. The blade should cut completely through the film and only slightly score the surface of the carrier or release liner.
