When do I need to use pre-treatment solution in digital direct-to-garment printing?

The simple answer is to use pre-treatment anytime you use white ink. There is confusion when customers hear that pre-treatment is required for dark shirts, as that begs the question what determines a dark garment? It’s possible to print a red shirt with navy or black ink with no pre-treatment solution, but a lighter color image will require a white under base and, therefore, pre-treatment.
