When I transfer onto ceramic tiles with my non-fabric transfer paper and the rubber pad, either my substrate breaks in the heat press or I cannot close the heat press. What can I do?
Try the upside-down transfer method. Place the transfer paper underneath the substrate and do not use the rubber pad. This allows for more space in the heat press so the tile will not break. Then, follow these steps:
1. Place the transfer paper on the lower platen with image facing upward.
2. Place the substrate on top of the transfer paper with the print side facing downward.
3. Place a piece of plain paper on top of the back of the substrate to protect the upper platen from being scratched.
4. Add approximately two minutes to the pressing time so the heat can permeate through the tile in order to get the toner to fuse to the substrate.
